Memories differ for each person, yet the emotions that remain within them resemble each other. As time passes, events grow blurry, and what remains are traces of memory and emotion that brush against the heart. On days when words failed to emerge easily, on days endured in silence, inexpressible longing and swelling quietly accumulate upon the face.
We live separate lives, but at times discover our own memories and emotions in another’s expression. In this way, one person's episodic memory comes into contact with another's, and through empathy, it becomes no longer a memory held alone but one that is shared. Perhaps what endures is not the event itself, but the emotion that lingered in the heart alongside it.
