EPISODIC
MEMORY

About

<Space, Dream and Light>

In the boundless inner dreamscape, vast as the universe, there exists the space of ALOK and of anomalous forms. The most beautiful and radiant dreams of my childhood, together with the small wonders gathered through a lifetime, are projected through ALOK as the figure of the child self. In this dream space, ALOK and other free beings drift like densely packed cells, and the emotion of today blends with the memory of the past to be born again as a luminous image. Holding the radiant light of the heart, ALOK spreads that light to everyone, and the light travels out across the whole world.

<Fragmentation and Deconstruction of Episodic Memory>

Beginning from the faint, fading pieces of memory, MOON SUNHEE’s work visually reconstructs the episodic memory that remains within us and the afterimages of emotion that accompany it. Memory — growing dimmer with the passage of time, at times distorted and rearranged — reappears as the faces and forms of people, holding within it longing, tenderness, and the facets of a feeling that refuses to be forgotten.

Her fragmented episodic memory is a process of weaving the emotional density accumulated within a person, together with the fragments of memory, into a sculptural language; through it the flow of feeling and the shards of memory gather into the inner narrative of a life.
