I first came to know Minami before I had even started elementary school — a small life sent to our house by my eldest aunt. That was Minami. As a child I wondered, “Why is your name Minami?” The name alone made him sound handsome and splendid, yet not a single photograph of him remains. Even so, somewhere in my heart he is still vivid: that face, that smile, and the warmth of it. Even now, when I quietly close my eyes, the Minami in my memory seems to come near and smile.
